scopio Projects collection is the publishing media for noteworthy projects linked to Documentary and Artistic photography related with Architecture, City and Territory. "Topografias a Norte", published in the "scopio Projects" collection, is a work of documentary photography on the Northern territory by three young photographers. The photography projects of these authors are so geographically and thematically close that their joint publication in a book of this collection is entirely justified. By this common editing space, our goal is to create synergies between the three projects, enhancing both the specificity that differentiates them and the proximity that unites them. "Unfinished Projects", by Helder Sousa, "EN12", by Marta Ferreira and "Planalto Barrosão", by Sérgio Rolando show us three different, but at the same time critical gazes on certain territories up North: the urban landscape of the Valongo County, the landscape of Circunvalação Road and the protected landscape of the Barrosão Plateau. Composed of three series of remarkable technical precision and strong imagery, "Topografias a Norte" is an interesting contemporary photography work that creates a collective whole, offering a set of particular gazes on certain landscapes located in the North. Thus, the series reveal in an innovative way the contradictions and the immense multifaceted richness that this territory has and become a body of conceptual visual narratives, in between document and fiction, as there is a strong aestheticization of the territory and its contradictions. In fact, "Unfinished Projects", "EN12" and "Planalto Barrosão" are a body of photographic work somehow close to the term "contemporary art". Widely used in the art milieu, this term is also rather an open-ended concept which integrates numerous artistic projects, such as those from the areas of documentary and landscape photography, as is the case of these series.
